About
Dr Jennifer Hadden
I’m a Clinical Psychologist with over 14 years experience supporting people through periods of psychological distress and difficulty. I’ve worked extensively within the NHS, across a range of settings and with people facing a wide variety of challenges. Alongside my clinical work, I’m involved in training the next generation of Clinical Psychologists through my role at the University of Edinburgh.
My approach to therapy is guided by evidence-based psychological approaches, but I also recognise that therapy needs to be tailored to the individual. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Behavioural Family Therapy
Systemic Approaches
I aim to create a warm, thoughtful and collaborative space where you feel listened to and understood, while also helping you develop practical ways of making sense of and responding to the difficulties you’re experiencing.
Therapy can feel daunting
Especially when you're already in distress. My aim is to create a safe, supportive space where we can work together to make sense of the patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and identify ways to bring about meaningful change.
Whether you're dealing with long-standing difficulties or facing something new that’s left you feeling unsettled, we can explore your experience together. I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each individual, ensuring therapy feels accessible, collaborative, and grounded in compassion.
In addition to my clinical practice, I have experience providing consultancy and training to professionals and organisations supporting individuals with psychological difficulties. I’ve also worked closely with statutory agencies, offering guidance to help them respond effectively and empathetically to complex mental health needs.
